Predicting the Future

What’s up party people in the place to be?! How are you?! I’m stressed the fuck out!!!

I live with my brother, and within 3 years time he wants to find a new place to live.

I don’t make a whole lot of money, so I have to apply to low-income housing, which I am not a fan of, but also, at the rate I’m on, I should have my bachelors degree by the year 2028, and he wants to be gone 2029.

I’m thinking I get my degree at some point that year and worst case scenario I have a two weeks to find a new job that pays well and a place to rent, assuming I graduate in December. What’s more likely (if I’ve done the math correctly) is that I have about 6 months to make it all make sense, and hopefully, even more time than that.

It’s bittersweet. I thought I’d stay at this family home I’ve had most of my life now and fix it up as the years go on before selling it, but it feels like my mom and my brother have more bad memories than good here, and want to get this place out of their hands and minds.

That’s just me assuming however.

I’m on the Handshake website and I see a lot of high paying jobs, out of the state of Massachusetts. Like I saw one earlier today in Pennsylvania paying like 70-120k and it named me a “top applicant” so I go “well shit, what if I moved out of state for work?” Why even stop there? Why not out of the country? It’s not impossible, but it does feel improbable.

I also think with all the accolades that Massachusetts has, if I ever wanted to hunker down and start a family, I’d want to move back. Massachusetss is like, the top in health care and education, if you consider everywhere else in the good’ol US of A.

Kind of sucks, you’d think “the richest country in the world” would share its prominence in these fields nationwide.

Whatever, all I know is every time I think about leaving Mass something convinces me to stay, this time feels a bit different but we shall see. What I’ve learned about money is if you seek it out, you’ll find it. Evermoreso if you want to work for it, you’ll definitely find it, eventually.

I think what bothers me the most is that I’m almost 40 and I feel like I’m at a good place in life. Sure I work and I can’t afford to rest on my laurels but compared to where I was even two years ago I feel much better about where I’m headed. This 3-year plan to find housing just feels like an unusually large bump in the road, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t on cruise control for the most recent leg of this journey.

Like I always say: It’s annoying.

But I suppose life is nothing without its challenges.

I’m trying to anticipate moving.

I have an amazon wishlist filled with moving boxes, I already applied to low-income housing since the waitlist can be years long, next I plan to investigate how much storage costs, because I’ve accumulated a lot of junk, but maybe I can sell some of it, who knows, we’ll see!

I’m anxious, but when aren’t I anxious?

Later gators.
